The BX wall-mounted jib crane bolts directly to a building column, wall, or structural beam. It uses the existing structure to resist vertical and horizontal loads, eliminating the foundation and floor space required by a pillar jib.

When to Choose a Wall-Mounted Jib

  • Space is tight: Wall-mounted jibs keep the floor clear, which matters in crowded production cells.
  • Suitable structural support exists: The mounting point must be engineered to handle the crane's moment and shear loads. A structural engineer should verify the column or wall capacity.
  • Lower capacity needs: Wall-mounted jibs are most common at 0.5T to 3T with spans up to 4–5 m. Beyond that, the structural loads on the building become significant.
  • Lower installation cost: No foundation means faster installation and lower civil works cost.

Wall-Mounted Jib Design Considerations

The mounting bracket and tie-rod arrangement determine the load path into your building. A typical BX jib uses a top bracket and a bottom bracket, with the boom pivoting on the bottom bracket and a tie rod or strut connecting the boom tip to the top bracket. Verify the bolt pattern, anchor type, and required standoff distance from the wall. If your column is not designed for eccentric loads, a pillar jib may be safer despite the higher civil cost.
